Advanced Resource Managers Ltd is seeking a Senior DevOps / Automation Engineer - Ansible for a 6-month contract (Inside IR35) with a daily rate up to £480. Hybrid working in London or Sheffield (2-3 days onsite) is available.

You will deliver strategic automation across IBM Z and distributed platforms, using Python, PostgreSQL, Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Vault, Grafana and Nexus to build resilient automation services.

Qualifications

• Strong Python development with production quality code and testing.
• PostgreSQL schema design and performance tuning in operational use.
• YAML-based automation definitions and clean structured configurations.
• Git-based CI/CD practices and GitHub/Git workflows.
• Jenkins pipeline development using Groovy.
• Enterprise scale Ansible via AAP.
• Grafana dashboards and metrics interpretation.
• Nexus or equivalent artefact repository management.
• HashiCorp Vault integration and secrets automation.

Responsabilités

• Automation Engineering & Orchestration: design robust automation using Python and YAML; develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for production orchestration; ensure idempotent, restartable, state-aware automation; integrate automation across distributed and IBM Z platforms; implement failure handling and guardrails.
• CI/CD & DevOps Toolchain Integration: build and maintain pipelines in GitHub and Jenkins; embed automated compliance checks and quality gates; integrate artefact management via Nexus; support Git-based workflow design.
• Observability & Monitoring: design dashboards and telemetry pipelines using Grafana; integrate logging/metrics with Splunk or similar platforms; build automated compliance and drift dashboards; produce structured audit reports.
• Data & Persistence: design schemas and automation state handling in PostgreSQL; implement run state tracking, job history retention, and audit evidence capture; optimise queries for reliability.
• Security & Secrets Management: implement secure secret handling with Vault; integrate Vault with CI/CD and AAP workflows; enforce least privilege and credential lifecycle management.
• Governance, Standards & Compliance: embed compliance checks into pipelines; contribute to standards for GitHub, Jenkins, AAP and workflow governance; support drift detection and remediation; document patterns for risk/audit stakeholders.
