Job summary

Advance TRS invites a Design Manager to lead a regional multi-disciplinary design team in North Wales. You will ensure QA compliance, liaise with clients and consultants, and drive design governance across projects and frameworks.

The role requires experience in water infrastructure design, NEC contracts, and a strong focus on quality and delivery performance. Hybrid working arrangement with a blend of office and site time is offered.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams within Water infrastructure or related sectors.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Design Engineering.
• Strong understanding of clean and wastewater systems and processes.
• Experience working with NEC contracts and within framework agreements.
• Excellent understanding of the design lifecycle: optioneering, outline, detailed design, design reviews.
• Knowledge of WIMES, DWI requirements, relevant design codes and legislation.
• CDM 2015 Regulations and safety-by-design principles.
• Strong organisational and workload planning skills; experience leading teams across projects.
• Ability to provide strong technical leadership and design governance.
• Strong stakeholder management; build relationships with clients, consultants, delivery teams.
• Commercial awareness: consider cost, risk, programme in design solutions.
• Proactive and accountable; own design delivery from brief to construction support.
• Strong communication and leadership; focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Passionate about quality, standardisation, innovation, high-performing teams.
• Proficient in design management software and systems.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain Framework Design Quality Plans across regional teams.
• Line manage the regional design team with HR support and technical leadership.
• Act as key client point of contact for design-related matters.
• Support regional teams; escalate from project to framework level.
• Plan workloads and allocate Design Leads and teams across projects.
• Set onboarding expectations and design detail levels with consultants.
• Collaborate with Framework Managers; provide design input at framework level.
• Assist Head of Design with recruitment of design engineers across the framework.
• Promote QA compliance, process development and standardisation across regions.
• Support tenders and pre-qualification submissions with design input.
