Job summary

Cobalt Recruitment is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join a major mixed-use development in Leatherhead, Surrey. You will own the design process, coordinating architects, consultants, and the in-house team from preconstruction through to delivery on a high-profile scheme including a police divisional HQ and affordable housing.

The ideal candidate will have a proven background with a UK main contractor, lead multidisciplinary design teams, and possess strong BIM, ISO 19650, and CDM

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Design Manager or Senior Design Coordinator.
• Strong background with UK Main Contractor.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams.
• Knowledge of BIM, Digital Engineering and ISO 19650.
• Good understanding of CDM, Building Regulations and Building Safety Act.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management ability.
• Past experience delivering blue-light or secure public-sector projects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the multidisciplinary design process from preconstruction through delivery.
• Develop and manage the project design programme.
• Coordinate architects, consultants, subcontractors and specialist designers.
• Lead design coordination meetings and drive resolution of technical issues.
• Manage design deliverables, interfaces, dependencies and approvals.
• Review Employer's Requirements for compliant design solutions.
• Work with planning, commercial and operational teams.
• Oversee BIM / Digital Engineering coordination and CDE processes.
• Support model federation, clash detection and design issue resolution.
• Ensure design risk control and compliance with CDM 2015.
• Coordinate Building Control, planning, utilities and statutory approvals.
• Support Building Safety Act / Gateway requirements.
