The role covers design delivery from feasibility through on-site coordination, with a project value of roughly £10m-£15m; hybrid working with 3 days in the office/site and up to 2 days flexible.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in a design management role for a Main Contractor.
• Experience with Fire Stations, Police Stations, or Multi-Use Blue Light Facilities.
• HNC or Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, Architectural Technology, or comparable qualification.

Responsibilities

• Drive efficient design processes aligned with project timelines and targets.
• Liaise between design team, client, and on-site delivery team.
• Oversee early feasibility and procurement, ensure technical compliance and on-site design coordination.

A market-leading, privately owned, Main Contractor with a secure, long-term pipeline of work across Hertfordshire and surround counties is seeking a talented Design Manager to join their team.

This role offers the opportunity to lead and support design delivery across an exciting long term blue light sector portfolio spanning Fire Stations, Police Stations, and Multi-Use Blue Light Facilities.

The Design Manager will be responsible for managing the design process from early feasibility and planning stages through to on-site coordination and delivery, taking responsibility for a new build project c£10m-£15m in value.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Driving efficient design process aligned with project timelines and commercial targets.
• Acting as a liaison between the design team, client, and on-site delivery team.
• While focusing primarily on early feasibility and procurement stages, the Design Manager will oversee technical compliance and design management, monitoring on-site design coordination and managing the performance of external consultants.
• Ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Desirable Experience

• Sector experience to include one of the following: Fire Stations, Police Stations, Multi-Use Blue Light Facilities
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a design management role for a Main Contractor.
