Job summary

Cundall, a leading data centre and sustainability consultancy, is seeking a Senior Design Manager to join its Manchester-based Data Centre team. You will lead or support complex design delivery on high-profile projects, coordinating engineers and specialists to meet ambitious performance and sustainability targets.

The role emphasizes client engagement, risk and programme management, mentoring, and developing the team.

Qualifications

Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a closely related technical discipline.
Significant experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary construction projects.
Strong understanding of MEP-led coordination and organisational skills.
Confident communication and stakeholder management.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with leadership experience (Associate level).

Responsibilities

Leading or supporting the design management of large-scale data centre projects.
Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and managing project deliverables.
Driving project meetings, workshops, and design reviews.
Working closely with clients to manage expectations and ensure successful outcomes.
Supporting commercial, programme, and risk management activities.
Contributing to consistency and improvement in design management processes.
Supporting team development, mentoring, and client engagement.
