Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is seeking a Senior Design Manager for major construction projects in the South West, based in Bristol. The role is permanent, full-time, offering a £75,000–£85,000 salary plus package and strong career progression potential.

You will lead end-to-end design management, oversee consultants, manage stakeholders and ensure CDM 2015 compliance across multiple project phases. BPSS clearance will be required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Design Manager with a Tier 1 or major main contractor.
• Experience delivering complex construction projects in defence, justice, healthcare, education or commercial sectors.
• Strong understanding of design management processes and current Building Regulations.
• BPSS Clearance will be required and eligible.

We are working with a large contractor who are looking for an experienced Senior Design Manager for projects in the South West of England to join their team on a permanent basis.

Location: Bristol

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 + Package (DOE)

Permanent contract - Full time

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process for construction projects, ensuring efficient development and delivery of design solutions.
• Manage key stakeholder relationships, including clients, subcontractors, and internal project and design teams, fostering collaborative environments for optimal project outcomes.
• Ensure strict adherence to construction design and management regulations (CDM 2015) and health and safety principles throughout all project phases.
• Proactively identify and mitigate design risks while capitalizing on opportunities to enhance project value and delivery.
• Oversee the selection and competency of design consultants, manage their fees, and ensure the timely delivery of design programs and information release schedules.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Design Manager with a Tier 1 or major main contractor.
• Experience delivering complex construction projects within sectors such as defence, justice, healthcare, education or commercial (Preference in MoJ/MoD)
• Strong understanding of design management processes, construction methodologies and current Building Regulations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND, degree or equivalent) is preferred.
• BPSS Clearance will be required (Can be processed once successful but must be eligible).
