Job summary

Akkodis is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join their aerospace engineering team in Gloucester. This role focuses on the design and development of landing gear systems throughout the product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background, strong CAD skills (preferably CATIA V5), and experience in aerospace or highly regulated industries. Key responsibilities include supporting design activities, producing engineering drawings, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering background within aerospace or regulated industries.
• Experience with full product lifecycle engineering.
• Strong CAD skills, especially with CATIA V5.

Responsibilities

• Support landing gear design from concept to detailed design.
• Produce and modify 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams for product improvements.

Skills

Mechanical design engineering background

Strong CAD experience, ideally CATIA V5

Strong communication skills

Experience with full product lifecycle engineering

Knowledge of manufacturing processes

Stakeholder management skills

Education

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related
