Job summary

Bennett And Game Recruitment is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for a site-based role in Waterlooville, Hampshire. The position covers concept through to production of capital equipment, producing robust 3D models and manufacturing drawings, and supporting prototyping on the shop floor.

You will work closely with manufacturing, assembly and suppliers to deliver reliable machinery, manage design changes, and ensure compliant documentation using PLM/PDM processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent); degree desirable.
• Proven mechanical design experience in manufacturing, ideally capital equipment or special-purpose machinery.
• Strong 3D CAD capability and confident producing manufacturing drawings.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and material/fastener selection for production builds.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD models and detailed drawings (assemblies, tolerances, BOMs) for capital equipment.
• Lead concept development, design reviews, and design-for-manufacture improvements with production teams.
• Specify materials, bought-out parts, and standard components; manage supplier technical queries.
• Support prototype builds, first-off inspections, and fault-finding during assembly and commissioning.
• Maintain engineering change control and drawing release using a PDM/PLM process.
