Job summary

Bennett And Game Recruitment are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for a well-established Sheffield-based engineering business. The role focuses on mechanical design, calculations and technical documentation for structural and engineering applications.

You will create, review and modify 3D CAD models (SolidWorks), perform engineering calculations and prepare documentation packages, coordinating with site teams and clients to meet specifications.

Qualifications

• Engineering bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
• HND/HNC in Engineering considered with relevant industry experience.
• Experience using 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks.
• Ability to produce, read and modify 3D models, assemblies and detailed drawings.
• Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering calculations.
• Willingness to work on site to support installation and tensioning activities.
• Knowledge of weld design and welding coordination advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Produce and review mechanical designs and technical drawings for assemblies used within structural and engineering applications.
• Create, modify and review 3D CAD models, assemblies and technical drawings using a CAD platform, ideally SolidWorks or Solid Edge.
• Carry out fundamental engineering calculations covering stresses, shear, bending, bearing and combined loading.
• Assess load paths and identify critical sections and stress areas to ensure designs meet strength requirements and relevant client specifications.
• Support the Site Services team with on-site installation and tensioning activities associated with specialist bar systems.
• Prepare technical documentation packages for customers, agents, distributors and auditors, including test reports, compliance statements, warranty documentation and certificates of origin.
• Work closely with engineering, project, quality and site teams to establish testing protocols, cable specifications and welding requirements.
