Talent Link in London is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join their team. You will lead detailed structural designs for permanent and temporary works and provide expert design support to site delivery teams.

The role requires a minimum of five years in structural engineering, a degree in structural or civil engineering, and proficiency with Eurocodes, BS 5975, CAD, and design software. You will mentor junior engineers and help develop design standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ design experience in structural engineering.
• Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Eurocodes, BS 5975 and other BS standards.

Responsabilités

• Lead and oversee detailed technical designs, calculations, drawings, risk assessments and design certificates.
• Coordinate preliminary designs and liaise with other parties.
• Obtain independent checks and third-party approvals including rail works.
• Ensure design outputs meet CDM, health and safety, and environmental compliance.
• Propose and develop value-engineered alternatives during design and construction.
• Review method statements for complex or unusual construction methods.
• Review defects or compensation events and advise on solutions.
• Provide technical information and advice to site and project teams.
• Assist with developing and maintaining processes, procedures, and standards for technical design.
• Obtain or provide pricing for estimating purposes.
• Liaise with clients, customers, suppliers, and third parties as required.

An established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join their team in London.

This is a key technical role leading detailed structural design of temporary and permanent works across a range of civil engineering projects, providing expert design support to operational and site delivery teams.

Responsibilities for Senior Design Engineer:

• Lead, prepare, and oversee detailed technical designs including calculations, drawings, risk assessments, and design certificates
• Undertake preliminary designs and coordination with other parties
• Obtain independent checks and third-party technical approvals including for rail works
• Ensure design outputs meet CDM, health and safety, and environmental compliance
• Propose and develop value-engineered alternative solutions during design and construction phases
• Undertake technical review of method statements for complex or unusual construction methods
• Review defects or compensation events and advise on solutions
• Provide technical information and advice to site and project teams
• Assist with developing and maintaining processes, procedures, and standards for technical design
• Obtain or provide pricing for estimating purposes
• Liaise with clients, customers, suppliers, and third parties as required

Essential Requirements for Senior Design Engineer:

• Minimum 5 years’ design experience in structural engineering
• Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Proven experience in detailed design of permanent and temporary works structures
• Proficiency in frame analysis software, structural design software, and CAD
• Ability to carry out calculations by hand or using software such as MathCAD
• Working knowledge of Eurocodes, BS 5975, and other relevant BS standards
• Experience in a structural engineering office carrying out design calculations and analysis
• Thorough knowledge of structural principles and construction processes
• Strong team working and coaching skills with ability to work independently
• Ability to identify structural suitability and critical load cases

Desirable:

• Mix of site and design office experience
• Incorporated or Chartered membership with a relevant professional institution or working towards
• CSCS card
