Job summary

Alexander Associates is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to deliver high quality designs across commercial, industrial, logistics and data‑driven sectors in the UK. You will own design packages, liaise with multidisciplinary teams, and drive technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires a degree in structural or civil engineering, chartered status or close to, plus strong knowledge of UK standards, Eurocodes and BIM workflows.

Qualifications

• Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field.
• Strong consultancy experience delivering structural design projects.
• Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and drainage modelling tools).
• Solid understanding of UK design standards, Eurocodes and Building Regulations.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and engineering judgement.
• Experience across commercial, industrial, logistics or data-centre sectors.
• Chartered or working towards Chartered status (CEng MIStructE or CEng MICE).
• Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment
• Experience in Flood Risk Assessment and Drainage Strategy Reports
• Industrial and Commercial building sector experience, along with other construction industry design experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural solutions from concept through detailed design and construction.
• Coordinate with architects, civil engineers and contractors to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Review drawings and models for accuracy, buildability and compliance with standards.
• Attend design reviews and provide clear technical input throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support site inspections and resolve technical queries during construction.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes.
