Job summary

CamWebDir is seeking a Senior Design Authority to lead technical ownership for complex communications products in Cambridge. You will ensure system integrity, drive robust architectures and coordinate across systems, software, electronics, RF, mechanical, and production teams to deliver reliable solutions.

The role requires taking ownership of technical outcomes, mentoring engineers, and guiding decisions through the full lifecycle with a focus on performance, cost and compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in a senior engineering or technical authority role.
• Ability to lead across multiple disciplines and translate needs into technical plans.
• Strong lifecycle understanding from concept to sustainment.
• Evidence-based decision making with risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Design Authority, owning technical direction and product integrity.
• Translate requirements into robust architectures and technical solutions.
• Lead across systems, software, electronics, RF, mechanical and production teams.
• Make and justify technical decisions with clear rationale and trade-offs.
• Mentor engineers and promote best engineering practices.
• Ensure designs meet compliance, quality, manufacturability and supportability.
