Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering advanced electromechanical systems in a highly regulated environment. You will design, develop, test and manufacture components across the full product lifecycle, working with systems, manufacturing and project colleagues to meet demanding customer requirements.

Applicants should hold a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and have experience designing within regulated sectors, producing BS 8888-compliant

Qualifikationen

• Experience producing BS 8888 drawings and documentation.
• Familiarity with configuration control, BOMs and product lifecycle processes.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (Creo/CATIA/NX/SolidWorks) and design reviews.

We're seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering technologically advanced products within a highly regulated environment. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle, supporting the design, development, testing and manufacture of complex electromechanical systems.

You’ll collaborate closely with systems, manufacturing, test and project teams to develop innovative engineering solutions that meet demanding customer and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed mechanical designs, assemblies and engineering drawings.
• Create and maintain technical documentation in accordance with recognised engineering standards.
• Develop designs using CAD and engineering analysis tools.
• Support design reviews, verification activities and engineering decision-making.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are suitable for production.
• Manage engineering changes, configuration control and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Support prototype build, integration, qualification and testing activities.
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in mechanical design within aerospace, defence, automotive, rail, marine or other regulated engineering sectors.
• Experience producing engineering drawings to standards such as BS 8888.
• Proficiency with CAD packages including Creo, CATIA, Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
• Understanding of engineering change management and product lifecycle processes.
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or other CAE tools.
• Design for Manufacture (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA).
• Experience of working within a configuration-controlled environment.
• Knowledge of product qualification and environmental testing.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC). This typically requires candidates to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and successfully complete security vetting.
