Job summary

Ultra Intelligence & Communications is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, testing and qualification of mechanical assemblies for advanced security products. You will guide engineering from concept to production, mentoring junior staff and driving excellence across the team.

The role requires deep technical expertise in mechanical design, tolerance analysis, and regulatory standards for defence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Extensive experience designing rugged electronic enclosures for defence.
• Proficient in 3D CAD modelling and drafting; Creo v7+ preferable.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Knowledge of military environmental standards and testing.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis for complex assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage mechanical design requirements with validation and verification.
• Develop robust mechanical solutions using 3D CAD and tooling.
• Lead integration, verification and acceptance testing across complex systems.
• Create and peer review design artefacts and documentation per the development framework.
• Conduct tolerance analysis and ensure compliance with MIL-STD/DEF-STAN and TEMPEST.
