Ultra I&C (UK) seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead design, development, testing and qualification of mechanical assemblies for high‑assurance defence products. You will guide cross‑functional teams from concept through production, ensuring regulatory compliance and robust specifications.

You will mentor engineers, perform GD&T reviews and deliver precise drawings and data packs using Creo and Windchill. Strong problem‑solving and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Proficient in mechanical design, materials selection and manufacturing processes.
• Experience designing rugged electronic enclosures for defence applications.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Familiarity with military environmental standards and TEMPEST considerations.
• 3D CAD modelling and drafting proficiency (Creo preferred).
• Experience with GD&T and creating precise engineering drawings.

Responsabilités

• Define and manage mechanical design requirements with validation plans.
• Develop robust mechanical solutions using 3D CAD and tooling.
• Lead mechanical integration, verification and testing with evidence package.
• Prepare technical artefacts: drawings, data packs, analyses and procedures.
• Analyze mechanical performance and optimize for manufacturability.
• Collaborate with production to ensure smooth transition to manufacture.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering excellence across the team.
• Engage in cross‑functional reviews and schedule management to meet deadlines.
