Job summary

Ultra Maritime is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical architecture for multi-disciplinary naval systems. The role covers design, integration, verification, and production support, working within a Defence-focused environment.

You will collaborate across disciplines, mentor junior engineers, participate in design reviews, and help shape bids and proposals. A SC level clearance is required or eligibility sought. Hybrid working arrangements are available.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
• Experience across the full project lifecycle, developing mechanical solutions against defined requirements.
• Hands-on experience with MCAD/MAE tools and product design reviews.
• Security clearance at SC level or eligibility to obtain it.
• Experience in mechanical integration, verification and validation.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage mechanical architecture, system and sub-system requirements.
• Develop robust mechanical solutions for complex systems.
• Lead mechanical integration, verification, and acceptance testing.
• Provide in-service and production support to customers.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers.
