Job summary

Ultra Maritime is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical architecture and design for complex maritime systems. You will deliver robust solutions, oversee verification and acceptance testing, and mentor junior engineers in a multi-disciplinary team.

The role offers a 9-day fortnight, flexible working, and opportunities to influence critical defence projects. Candidates should have extensive design experience and UK SC clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
• Experience across the full project lifecycle developing mechanical solutions.
• Hands-on design using Creo, Autodesk Inventor and related tools.
• Knowledge of material selection, assembly techniques and manufacturing.
• Experience with work package management.
• Experience in Product Design Reviews.
• Ability to deliver solutions on time and within budget.
• Eligible for UK Security clearance (SC) or higher.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage mechanical architecture and requirements.
• Develop and deliver mechanical solutions for complex systems.
• Create design documentation, data packs, and analysis reports.
• Lead mechanical integration, verification, and testing.
• Prepare technical solutions and estimates for stakeholders.
• Provide in-service and production support to customers.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers.
