Job summary

Mace is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Defence team in Derby. You will support complex project delivery, manage commercial risk and administer NEC contracts while driving value throughout the lifecycle.

Successful candidates will have NEC contract management experience, a degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, and strong stakeholder communication skills. The role offers hybrid working and opportunities to influence nationally significant programmes within a

Qualifications

• Experience delivering commercial management in Defence or similarly complex environments.
• Strong NEC contract management and administration experience.
• Knowledge of contract law and commercial frameworks in construction/engineering.
• Experience with cost management, forecasting, reporting and financial control.
• Experience identifying and managing commercial risks, change control and claims.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial management support across complex project and programme delivery teams.
• Offer specialist commercial advice to identify, manage and mitigate risks and opportunities.
• Manage and administer NEC contracts ensuring compliance and governance.
• Deliver cost management, forecasting and commercial reporting through the project lifecycle.
• Prepare financial reports including cost forecasts, final costs and cost of work.
• Assess commercial impact of design changes, contracts, construction and client requirements.
• Support evaluation and resolution of contractor and supplier claims, including delays.
• Manage commercial risk, compensation events, change control and notices.
• Support practical completion, final accounts and commercial close-out.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and proper archiving of documents.
