Job summary

ABB UK is seeking a senior service engineer to lead expert field service and provide guidance for DCS systems across critical industrial processes in the UK.

You will deliver preventative and corrective maintenance, fault finding and lifecycle services while mentoring engineers, sharing best practices and technical training across the service organisation. Travel across the UK and occasional overseas is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Engineering (BSc) or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in process control engineering and customer-site support.
• Proven ability to work independently while developing others.
• Expert knowledge of at least one Distributed Control System (DCS).
• Strong understanding of process control principles and industrial automation.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in diagnostics and risk-based decisions.
• Commercial awareness with customer relationships and service proposals.
• Self-motivated, adaptable and excellent English communication.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert field service for ABB DCS systems including maintenance and commissioning.
• Lead fault finding, root-cause analysis and recovery activities.
• Provide on-site, remote and on-call technical support.
• Manage customer service activities and maintenance contracts with clear guidance.
• Conduct lifecycle audits and technical assessments to identify improvements.
• Prepare service reports, quotations and recommendations.
