Job summary

GIOS Technology is hiring a Senior Database Administrator (Oracle / SQL Server / PostgreSQL) in Sheffield. The role is hybrid with three days per week in the office, focusing on hands-on DBA work in enterprise environments.

The ideal candidate will combine strong RDBMS expertise (Oracle, SQL Server or PostgreSQL) with advanced SQL development, performance tuning, and incident response in high-volume transactional systems. Proficiency with Linux/Unix, backups, and recovery is essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on DBA experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in at least one major RDBMS: Oracle / Microsoft SQL Server / PostgreSQL.
• Proven experience supporting high-volume transactional systems.
• Excellent SQL development, query optimisation, and database performance tuning skills.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability tools, including OEM, Dynatrace, Splunk, or Prometheus.
• Good understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems and administration.
• Strong knowledge of database backup, recovery, and restoration strategies.
