Job summary

Babcock is seeking a DBA Manager to lead Oracle database and middleware services at the Technology Centre in Bristol, with hybrid working 2–3 days on site. You will guide a team, manage performance, security and delivery of critical systems supporting national security.

The role emphasizes leadership, architecture, and automation, with opportunities to shape in-house capabilities and deliver new digital solutions across defence and infrastructure programs.

Qualifications

• Experience managing database and middleware environments in complex systems.
• Leadership experience managing technical teams.
• Familiar with Oracle technologies such as WebLogic, SOA Suite, Identity Management, and modern Oracle database platforms.
• Experience working with Windows and Linux server environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimise performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and performance of Oracle database and middleware services.
• Shape technology and people capability; guide a team of specialists.
• Develop project plans, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, optimisation, and best practice.
