Job summary

CrowdStrike is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist Lead to guide a team of data scientists at the intersection of ML, big data, and security. You will shape the ML strategy and mentor the team to deliver threat detection innovations that scale across our security platform.

In this leadership role, you will collaborate with security researchers, engineers and product teams to translate research into production-grade ML systems, focusing on reducing false positives and accelerating incident response.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of data science and ML experience, with at least 2 years in leadership.
• Proven track record of leading ML projects from research to production.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts and security operations.
• Programming proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks and big data technologies.
• Experience mentoring data scientists and ML engineers.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 3 data scientists with career development and performance management.
• Establish standards for ML development, deployment, and monitoring.
• Define and drive the technical strategy for ML in threat detection and agentic AI.
• Lead ML projects from research to production deployment with measurable impact.
• Plan and prioritize team roadmaps balancing research and production delivery.
• Stay current with ML and cybersecurity trends and evaluate new technologies.
• Collaborate with security research, engineering, and product to align ML with business goals.
• Partner with security experts to identify high-impact ML opportunities for detection and response.
• Communicate ML insights to stakeholders across the organization.
• Guide development of advanced models for malware detection and AI-driven security automation.
• Drive research initiatives resulting in publications, blogs, patents, and contributions to ML/security communities.
• Contribute to hands-on technical work maintaining deep ML and security expertise.
