Job summary

Government Recruitment Service in the United Kingdom is recruiting a Lead Data Platform Engineer to shape how we receive and use information across the agency. This role offers flexible working and a chance to think bigger and own outcomes.

You will provide technical leadership for the Microsoft Fabric and OneLake data platform, working with Enterprise Architecture, Data Architecture, delivery teams and suppliers to deliver trusted analytics, reporting and AI.

Qualifications

• Experience leading data engineering teams.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and OneLake.
• Ability to set engineering standards and guide complex decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of Microsoft Fabric and OneLake, setting technical direction and assuring secure, scalable, resilient solutions.
• Establish engineering practices including reusable components, automated testing, DataOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Define how data moves between systems (Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Azure) using batches, near-real-time updates, and event-driven integration.
• Enable trusted analytics, reporting, AI and ML in production with data, AI and delivery teams.
• Embed governance and security in platform engineering, setting data quality, lineage, metadata and access standards.
• Improve operational reliability and cost efficiency with monitoring, AIOps, FinOps and platform consumption management.
• Lead, line-manage and develop Senior Data Engineers and Data Engineers.
