Job summary

Teya, a London-based fintech, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to shape the future of our data platform. You will work across the entire ELT lifecycle, from ingestion pipelines to orchestration and governance, expanding capabilities and building features that power decision-making across the organization.

You will help shape platform architecture, data product thinking, and engineering best practices, delivering a world-class scalable Data Platform for analytics and future AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform Engineering.
• Strong SQL expertise for complex analytical queries.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Java.
• Experience with Data Warehouses like Snowflake or Apache Iceberg.
• Knowledge of containerised workloads (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with streaming tooling (Kafka, Kafka Connect, Flink).
• Experience with ETL/ELT tooling (dbt, Airflow, Airbyte, dlt).
• Hands-on experience provisioning cloud infrastructure with Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
• Observability practices including logging, metrics, alerting.

Responsibilities

• Designing and evolving the architecture of our data infrastructure.
• Maintaining the data platform.
• Ensuring the reliability of data ingestion pipelines.
• Propagating learnings across the Data Engineering team.
• Ensuring data governance following best practices.
• Improving data reliability, quality, and observability.
• Building and improving data models for large datasets.
• Designing and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Collaborating with analysts and engineering teams to productionize use cases.
• Participating in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Contributing to code reviews and engineering standards.
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation and runbooks.
