Job summary

Menzies LLP is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and operation of a secure, scalable data warehouse on Google Cloud Platform. You will drive data pipelines, governance, and analytics integration across the firm.

Based at Heathrow or any Menzies office, you’ll mentor engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and enable reporting and AI-enabled workflows across the business.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related field.
• Strong SQL and Python skills for production data solutions.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses, especially BigQuery, in GCP.
• Familiarity with Airflow/Cloud Composer, dbt, Git/GitHub, CI/CD and Terraform.
• A solid understanding of data modelling, data quality, governance and security.
• Ability to translate business needs into scalable data products.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable data pipelines into BigQuery.
• Shape the engineering approach across Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Set and champion high engineering standards across modelling, dbt, testing, monitoring, deployment and cost.
• Partner with teams to build data products from various sources.
• Embed security, governance and GDPR compliance in data handling.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers and analysts.
• Enable data to deliver value via Power BI, automation and AI.
• Evaluate build-vs-buy options balancing value, security and cost.
• Champion data enablement and shape the Innovation Team roadmap.
