Job summary

Menzies is seeking a senior data engineering lead to design and deliver scalable, secure data pipelines into BigQuery and related GCP services. You will shape the engineering approach, set standards for data modelling, testing, and cost optimisation, and partner with teams to deliver reusable data products.

You will mentor engineers and promote governance and data quality by design. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in data engineering, strong SQL/Python skills, and deep knowledge of BigQuery,

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering or data platform leadership.
• Advanced SQL and Python for production data solutions.
• Strong experience with cloud data warehouses, ideally BigQuery, and GCP.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of scalable data pipelines into BigQuery from internal systems and APIs.
• Shape engineering approach across Google Cloud Platform including Terraform and Airflow.
• Set engineering standards for data modelling, testing, monitoring and cost optimisation.
• Partner with teams to turn business needs into scalable data products.
• Embed security, governance and data quality by design, including GDPR compliance.
• Provide technical leadership: review designs, mentor engineers, raise engineering standards.
• Enable data delivery via Power BI, automation workflows and AI agents.
