Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a senior data engineer to design, build and optimise enterprise data platforms and pipelines across major infrastructure projects. You will lead delivery within agreed standards, mentor colleagues, and collaborate with GIS and digital specialists to unlock value from data.

You will work in a growing Geospatial and Data team, using Azure Data Factory, Synapse and Data Lake, shaping technical standards and driving modern analytics and automation across projects.

Qualifications

• Strong technical leadership and communication skills.
• Experience in data engineering with database ownership.
• Proficient in SQL Server, performance tuning and data modelling.
• Experience designing ETL/ELT solutions and data integration architectures.
• Proficient in Python for automation and analytics.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse and Data Lake.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day technical delivery of data engineering projects.
• Translate business challenges into scalable technical solutions.
• Ensure quality, security and performance of engineering deliverables.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders, communicating technical concepts clearly.
