Job summary

Wise, a global fintech, seeks a Senior Data Engineer I for Global KYC & Onboarding. You will design data pipelines, storage, and analytics models powering onboarding and FinCrime controls worldwide.

Sitting between core engineering and product analytics, you will own the data journey, transforming high-volume events into auditable datasets and helping modernise our verification data ecosystem. This full-time role is based in the UK.

Qualifications

• Strong Python fundamentals for data engineering and performance optimisations.
• Advanced SQL and data modelling across large datasets.
• Experience with Airflow or similar workflow orchestration.
• Systems and data architecture mindset for high-throughput event data.
• Ownership and autonomous work in evolving domain.
• Collaborative cross-functional communication with engineers and analysts.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines ingesting high-volume verification data.
• Model domain data mapping for onboarding funnels and metrics.
• Modernise verification data architecture with scalable data flows.
• Define data contracts, monitoring, and automated tests with stakeholders.
• Ensure observability and auditability for regulatory compliance.
