Job summary

Wise is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in the UK to own large-scale backend projects that power our KYC/Onboarding platforms and global settlements. You will design robust microservices, implement clean APIs, and drive reliable systems in collaboration with product, data, and security teams.

You have 4+ years of experience, with proficiency in asynchronous messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with any programming language and distributed systems.
• Experience building scalable microservices and using asynchronous messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Strong product mindset with focus on customer experience and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end backend projects within the KYC/Onboarding domain.
• Design and implement robust microservices with clean APIs.
• Integrate with risk and compliance systems to ensure Wise remains compliant.
• Mentor engineers and drive performance improvements and reliability.
