Job summary

Menzies LLP is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead our GCP data warehouse development and operations from Manchester. You will design scalable pipelines using BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Datastream and Airflow, while embedding governance and security across data handling and access.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate across the firm, and deliver data products that unlock reporting, automation and AI-enabled decision making.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data/analytics engineering, with senior or leadership experience.
• Strong SQL and Python for production data solutions.
• Expert in cloud data warehouses, ideally BigQuery, with GCP knowledge.
• Experience with Airflow/Cloud Composer, dbt, Git, CI/CD.
• Understanding of data modelling, testing, monitoring and governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of scalable data pipelines into BigQuery.
• Champion GCP engineering standards across data tooling and IaC.
• Collaborate with teams to turn business needs into reusable data products.
• Embed security and governance across data handling and access.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen data capabilities.
• Enable data outputs via Power BI, automation, and internal apps.
• Evaluate build vs buy to balance value, security, cost.
• Shape Innovation Team roadmap for scalable platforms.
