Senior Data Engineer - Fabric Platform Architect

Job summary

Kinetech in London is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to take technical ownership of an evolving Microsoft Fabric data platform. Hybrid working option around 2-4 days per month in the office (East London / Essex).

You will lead the maturity from Bronze through Silver and Gold, design scalable Fabric pipelines, and act as the senior technical escalation point while remaining close to architecture, pipelines and engineering work.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Fabric experience with architectural design and engineering best practice.
• Experience maturing Medallion/Lakehouse architecture Bronze-Silver-Gold.
• Experience modernising legacy data platforms into Fabric or similar architecture.
• Strong SQL expertise including performance tuning and optimisation.
• Experience designing Fabric pipelines, transformations and analytical data models.
• Knowledge of data cleansing, data quality, governance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Microsoft Fabric platform architecture and standards.
• Drive maturity of Fabric environment from Bronze through Silver to Gold.
• Design, build and optimise scalable Fabric pipelines and data models.
• Introduce consistent engineering approaches across pipelines and security.
• Coach and mentor Data Engineers; perform code reviews and guidance.
• Support downstream Power BI reporting with robust data models.
• Document standards and facilitate knowledge sharing.
