Job summary

UK Home Office is recruiting a Senior Data Engineer in Glasgow with hybrid working (60% office). You will design and lead data flows connecting operational systems to analytics and BI, focusing on cloud cost data in AWS/Azure and cost governance.

You will mentor juniors and collaborate with Finance, Data Science, and Product teams to deliver accurate cost dashboards and reporting. The role sits in the Central FinOps team, supporting recharge processes and data-driven decision making across the

Qualifications

• Experience designing and implementing data flows and data pipelines.
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality and analytics.
• Experience with finance processes and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle).
• SC clearance with 5 years UK residency in the last 5 years.
• Ability to mentor junior team members and promote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Analysing problems and identifying underlying causes to develop innovative solutions.
• Analysing and reporting test activities and results, supporting data engineers and stakeholders.
• Designing and implementing a data streaming service and ETL processes.
• Ensuring successful delivery of data loads for customers and teams, troubleshooting as needed.
• Designing, building and testing data products and solutions, including deployment lifecycles.
• Applying data modelling concepts across multiple subject areas and guiding usage.
• Working with finance processes, controls, and authorities to ensure compliant financial activity.
• Maintaining data governance and cloud cost data quality and traceability.
• Leading data flow development and service technology direction with the team.
• Mentoring junior team members and promoting an agile way of working.
• Communicating complex financial information to non-technical stakeholders.
