Job summary

Burns Sheehan Limited is seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to take ownership of an Azure data platform and drive a critical migration to Microsoft Fabric. You will work with a Platform Architect to define best practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code, while improving governance, reliability and data quality.

The role combines hands-on delivery with leadership in a modern data environment, offering genuine ownership and an opportunity to shape the platform's future direction.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Azure data engineering across Synapse/ADF/SQL.
• Experience migrating data platforms, including parallel running and validation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and IaC (Terraform or Bicep).
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own existing Azure data pipelines and support Synapse to Fabric migration.
• Work with Platform Architect to establish engineering best practices, CI/CD, IaC and robust environments.
• Improve data governance, quality, monitoring and platform reliability.
• Balance ongoing data engineering work with a major platform transformation.
• Help shape the technical direction and mentor additional engineers as the team grows.
