Job summary

Opencast is seeking experienced data engineers to help build robust data platforms across the full data lifecycle, collaborating with architects, analysts and client teams. You will work on lakehouse and warehouse platforms with Microsoft Fabric and Azure, while modernising legacy environments and ensuring data quality, governance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services including lakehouse, warehouse, notebooks and pipelines.
• Experience building enterprise-scale data platforms, lakehouses and data warehouses.
• Data modelling and dimensional modelling techniques (e.g., Kimball).
• ETL/ELT development and large-scale data integration.
• PySpark, Spark SQL and modern transformation techniques.
• Advanced SQL and relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Integrating structured, semi-structured and unstructured data sources.
• Migration and modernisation of legacy platforms (Oracle, SQL Server/SSIS, Synapse).
• Power BI semantic models and curated datasets.
• Data governance, metadata management and lineage.
• Data security and access control approaches.
• Automated testing, validation and performance optimisation.
• DataOps, CI/CD and version control.
• Agile delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Help design, build and maintain data platforms across the full data lifecycle.
