London | Hybrid, 2 days in the office | £60,000 to £65,000
A senior engineering role at a global data and AI consultancy, joining a small UK team just as a new Snowflake project gets going. You’d be the one shaping the build, guiding the engineers around you and earning the client’s trust.
Why this one’s different
- A new Snowflake project to lead from the start. They’re an Elite-tier Snowflake partner across EMEA, and you’d be in at the beginning of fresh build work, not inheriting someone else’s decisions.
- Real influence in a small team. The UK team is around 15, with 2,500+ people behind it globally. Your voice shapes how things get built and how the team works, rather than getting lost in a big department.
- 60% tech, 40% client. You’ll still be hands‑on, but you’ll also be the person clients turn to for the technical answer. If you’ve outgrown the back office, this is the step.
- Freedom to solve problems properly. The hiring manager moved there from corporate herself and rates the freedom above all. You choose the right fix for the client rather than working around process.
- A team people stay in. It’s tight‑knit, and the manager is known for looking after people. The retention shows it.
- Close to where data is heading. They’re already building agentic AI into their data engineering work, alongside their own AI platform.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing and building data pipelines, models and transformation layers on Snowflake and dbt for client projects
- Making the key technical calls on architecture, data modelling and engineering standards
- Leading client conversations: understanding their problems, shaping the solution and explaining technical decisions in plain English
- Mentoring and supporting the mid‑level and junior engineers in the team, through code reviews, pairing and guidance
- Raising the bar on testing, CI/CD, documentation and data quality across projects
- Working across a varied client base, sharing what you learn with the wider practice
What you’ll bring
- 4+ years’ commercial data engineering experience
- Strong hands‑on Snowflake experience, ideally alongside dbt
- Deep SQL and solid data modelling, with dimensional modelling, ELT and production pipelines in your bag
- Confidence in front of clients and stakeholders. You enjoy the people side and can explain complex ideas simply
- Experience guiding or mentoring other engineers, formally or informally
- Databricks or Fabric experience is a plus, but Snowflake is the priority
