Job summary

Spencer Rose Ltd is recruiting a Data Engineering Manager to lead a Snowflake/AWS data platform team in Edinburgh. The role is hybrid, offering leadership across data pipelines, modeling and analytics platforms within a large UK organisation.

You will mentor Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers, drive modern data architectures, champion best practices, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions on Snowflake and AWS.

Qualifications

• Experience leading Data Engineering teams.
• Strong Snowflake experience.
• Solid AWS knowledge, especially S3 and Lambda.
• Experience with data pipelines, modelling and modern data warehouse architectures.
• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
• dbt experience would be highly advantageous.
• Exposure to Medallion architecture or Machine Learning would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop data engineering teams including data and analytics engineers.
• Oversee scalable data pipelines, platforms and analytics solutions.
• Collaborate with Technical Leads and senior stakeholders on delivery.

They are now looking for an experienced Data Engineering Manager to join their Edinburgh-based Data function, leading a talented team responsible for delivering modern, scalable data solutions.

This is a leadership-focused position offering the opportunity to develop a high-performing engineering team, influence technical direction and play a key role in the continued evolution of the organisation's data capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor and develop a multi-disciplinary team of Data Engineers, Data Quality Engineers and Analytics Engineers.
• Oversee the delivery of scalable data pipelines, platforms and analytics solutions.
• Work closely with Technical Leads and senior stakeholders to drive successful project delivery.
• Support the ongoing development of Snowflake-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
• Drive engineering best practices, continuous improvement and team development.
• Manage priorities, resources and stakeholder expectations across multiple initiatives.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience leading or managing Data Engineering teams.
• Strong Data Engineering background, with solid Snowflake experience.
• Good understanding of AWS cloud services, particularly S3 and Lambda.
• Experience with data pipelines, data modelling and modern data warehouse architectures.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with dbt would be highly advantageous.
• Exposure to Medallion architecture, semantic modelling or Machine Learning would be beneficial.
