Job summary

Capita plc is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to transform how the British Army measures training performance and drives continuous improvement. The role is permanent, 37.5 hours, hybrid with 2–3 days in Warminster, and requires UK security clearance at BPSS level.

You will analyse training data, develop dashboards, and mentor colleagues while engaging with senior stakeholders to shape data-driven decisions across ACTS and the Army.

Qualifications

• Qualification in data-related subject or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in a Senior Data Analyst or BI role within a complex organisation.
• Experience creating dashboards and visualisations from multiple sources.
• Ability to explain findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Analyse training, safety and operational data to identify trends, risks, opportunities and actionable insights.
• Collect, validate and maintain data from multiple sources to ensure accurate reporting.
• Develop dashboards and visualisations that support senior decision-making and operational readiness.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, standardisation and reporting improvements.
• Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into analytical outputs.
• Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on analytics tools and data-driven decision making.
• Mentor colleagues and promote high standards of analytical quality and continuous improvement.
• Present findings clearly through reports and briefings while ensuring data security and compliance.

As a Senior Data Analyst, you'll help transform how the British Army measures training performance, manages risk and drives continuous improvement. Working within the Insights, Guidance and Control (IGC) Cell, you'll turn complex data into actionable intelligence, support senior leaders with critical decisions, and help shape the future of collective training across the Army.

Permanent role - 37.5 hours a week

Hybrid role with 2 or 3 days a week in Warminster

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at BPSS level.

What you'll be doing

• Present findings clearly through reports, presentations and briefings while ensuring data security, confidentiality and compliance.

What we're looking for

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications

• Appropriate Qualification in a data-related subject (such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Business Analytics) or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in a Senior Data Analyst, Business Intelligence or data-focused analytical role within a complex organisation.
• Strong skills in collecting, cleansing, validating, analysing and interpreting data from multiple sources.
• Advanced experience creating dashboards, reports and visualisations using Power BI and Excel.
• Good understanding of data modelling, databases, data architecture and data quality management principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, explain performance and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Knowledge of AI-enabled analytics, data pipelines and the data requirements needed to support AI solutions.
• Experience mentoring colleagues and confidently communicating technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
