Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cybersecurity Analyst to join a sophisticated security team in Randburg. The role focuses on defending digital assets through monitoring, threat intelligence, incident response, and implementing best practices.

Office-based in Randburg, collaboration with IT and development teams is essential. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in cybersecurity analysis, with SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability tooling, and holds relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in cybersecurity analysis, incident response, or security operations.
• Proven experience with SIEM tools, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and common attack techniques.
• Experience with vulnerability assessment tools and penetration testing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Effective communication and reporting skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security systems and analyze security logs to detect and investigate potential security incidents.
• Conduct threat intelligence gathering and analysis to identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
• Lead and participate in incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems and applications.
• Develop and implement security controls and countermeasures to mitigate identified risks.
• Create and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and incident reports.
• Collaborate with IT operations and development teams to integrate security best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior security analysts.
• Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, technologies, and industry trends.
