Job summary

Butler Rose in Plymouth is recruiting an experienced Senior Credit Controller to lead debt recovery activities and support the finance team. You will manage aged debt, supervise junior staff, and maintain cash flow across the business.

Candidates should have proven credit control experience, strong communication skills, and familiarity with accounting software and MS Office; AAT qualification is beneficial but not essential. This is a full-time, permanent role.

• Proven experience in credit control and debt recovery.

• Experience using accounting software packages and MS Office.
• Prior experience in construction, engineering, contracting, or related industry is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Driving timely debt recovery across a portfolio of customer accounts
• Monitoring aged debt and producing regular reports for senior management
• Uploading invoices to customer payment portals
• Supervising and supporting Credit Control Assistants
• Assisting with payment allocations and bank reconciliations
• Maintaining accurate records and reporting of outstanding debt
• Building and developing strong relationships with customers
• Resolving customer queries through collaboration with finance and operational teams
• Ensuring credit control processes are followed effectively and efficiently

The Role

• Previous experience within construction, engineering, contracting, or a related industry would be advantageous

• Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members would be desirable
