Senior Credit Controller

Are you an experienced Credit Controller looking for your next step within a growing and established organisation?
We are currently supporting a successful and expanding business with the appointment of a Senior Credit Controller to join their finance team in Plymouth.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller to take greater ownership of the credit control function, manage an aged debt ledger and support a small team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing and monitoring the aged debt ledger, ensuring outstanding balances are recovered promptly
- Taking ownership of debt recovery and cash collection across the business
- Managing and supporting a small team of Credit Control Assistants
- Building strong relationships with customers and resolving payment queries
- Liaising with finance and operational teams to resolve account and invoice queries
- Assisting with payment allocations and bank reconciliations
- Uploading invoices to customer portals
- Producing accurate credit control reports and providing updates on outstanding debt
- Supporting the wider finance team with day-to-day activities where required
- Helping to improve credit control processes and cash collection performance
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working within a Credit Controller or Senior Credit Controller position
- At least 3 years' experience within credit control
- Strong knowledge of credit control processes, aged debt and cash collection
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to deal with challenging customer conversations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when dealing with financial information
- Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Good relationship-building skills and a customer-focused approach
- Previous experience managing, supervising or mentoring junior colleagues would be advantageous
- AAT or relevant finance qualification is desirable
- Experience within construction, building compliance, fire safety or a similar industry would be beneficial but is not essential
