Provide legal counsel and business advice, and draft, review, and negotiate documents related to Paramount Pictures International's theatrical and home entertainment marketing and distribution operations, primarily in Europe. This position reports to the Vice President, Legal Affairs (London) and is part of a four-lawyer team in London and Paris within the Legal Affairs group of Paramount, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs in Los Angeles. This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

What will you be doing?

1. Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of agreements related to motion picture distribution, including licensing, acquisition, and exhibitor agreements.
2. Advising on regulatory matters, such as competition law and commercial agency law, and providing training to local offices.
3. Assisting with queries on Paramount’s theatrical distribution joint ventures, marketing, compliance, localization of titles, and legal services related to marketing and promotion.
4. Drafting and negotiating marketing agreements, advising on intellectual property issues, and providing counsel on advertising regulation, GDPR/privacy, and industry-specific marketing issues.
5. Providing legal support on corporate, regulatory, data privacy, tax, and other matters, coordinating with other departments and outside counsel.
6. Supporting international theatrical and home media marketing and distribution, establishing relationships with clients, conducting research, instructing outside counsel, and providing day-to-day legal support in Europe.

What are we looking for?

• Ability to work under substantial time pressure, managing a high-volume workload efficiently.
• Strong partnership skills with various business areas, including distribution, operations, sales, marketing, and legal teams both locally and in LA.
• Effective communication and professional interaction with management, staff, vendors, and third parties.
• Multitasking skills across distribution and marketing projects, working independently with good judgment, and exercising creativity when needed.
• Excellent writing, analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with up-to-date legal knowledge, especially in contract law and data protection legislation.

Educational, Professional and Experience Requirements:

• Law degree or equivalent, with current admission to practice law in England and Wales.
• Outstanding academic credentials.
• Minimum of 8 years’ PQE, including at least 2 years at a top law firm, with experience in IP/media-related practice, marketing, or contract drafting.
• Experience in commercial contracts, intellectual property, entertainment, marketing, data protection, and competition law.
• Familiarity with licensing/distribution of motion pictures, and social media marketing issues.
• Foreign language skills, especially Spanish, are advantageous.
• Experience working at a motion picture studio or handling major studio legal and business affairs, including marketing and international licensing/distribution.
