Senior Cost Manager/Project Quantity Surveyor - Construction

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cost Manager/Project Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Manchester. As a key member of our construction projects division, you will play a crucial role in managing costs, ensuring project profitability, and delivering exceptional value to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain detailed cost plans and budgets for complex construction projects
2. Conduct thorough cost analysis and provide accurate forecasts throughout project lifecycles
3. Prepare and analyse bills of quantities, tender documents, and contract agreements
4. Manage the procurement process, including vendor selection and contract negotiation
5. Perform value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality
6. Monitor and report on project financial performance, identifying potential risks and opportunities
7. Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective project delivery
8. Provide expert advice on contractual and commercial matters to internal teams and clients
9. Implement and maintain robust cost control systems and procedures
10. Mentor junior team members and contribute to the overall growth of the department

Minimum Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
2. MRICS qualification (or actively working towards it)
3. Minimum of 7 years of demonstrable cost management experience in a consultancy or similar role
4. Proven track record of successfully managing costs for large-scale construction projects
5. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach
7. Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office suite
8. In-depth knowledge of construction industry standards, regulations, and best practices
9. Experience in contract administration and negotiation
10. Strong mathematical and financial analysis skills
11. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously
12. Excellent organizational and time management skills
13. Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
