Job summary

Sustainable Infrastructure in North East England seeks a Senior Cost Consultant to manage post‑contract commercial activities on a hyperscale data centre programme. You will oversee GMP development, contract administration and final accounts, coordinating with project teams, clients and contractors to ensure robust cost control across MEP and major packages.

The role requires strong analytical, negotiation and reporting skills, with experience in valuations, cost forecasting and CVRs to support

Qualifications

• Proven cost and commercial management experience across complex construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong post-contract commercial management experience.
• Experience managing change control and variations.
• Strong knowledge of valuations and payment processes.
• Experience with cost forecasting, reporting and financial control.
• Proven experience managing and agreeing final accounts.
• Commercial ownership of major construction or engineering work packages.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Commercial Director across major capital packages from procurement through to final account.
• Support and, where appropriate, lead GMP development, negotiation and conversion.
• Provide commercial management across major packages including MEP, enabling works, civils, structures, steel, architectural and CSA.
• Manage and support final account negotiations and agreement.
• Undertake FIDIC-based contract administration.
• Prepare and review valuations and payment recommendations.
• Manage change control, variations and commercial adjustments.
• Prepare cost reports, forecasts and CVRs.
• Support tender analysis and commercial recommendations.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities and contingency.
• Work collaboratively with design, PMO, construction, procurement and commissioning teams.
• Develop strong relationships with contractors, consultants, clients and internal stakeholders.
• Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team.
