Job description

Senior Cost Consultant job in East Central London for a progressive multidisciplinary construction consultancy focused on infrastructure projects. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team at the forefront of modern construction methods. You will be working on a variety of projects across residential and mixed-use sectors for mainly private developer clients. The role offers a competitive and negotiable basic salary from £70,000 - £90,000 + bonus + travel + hybrid working + 27 days holiday.

Established around a decade ago, this independent construction consultancy has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality homes using modern methods of construction. With a team of around 100 professionals across cost and project management, they operate in residential-led sectors including affordable housing, BTR, and mixed-use schemes.

This growing practice is involved in some of the capital's most ambitious regeneration projects, with developments valued up to £2.5bn. They offer a progressive and collaborative environment, with clear career development routes and exposure to complex, high-profile schemes from feasibility to completion. The client is looking for Associate or Senior Cost Consultant candidates, ideally with a consultancy or developer background.

Role & Responsibilities

1. Reporting to the Associate Director or Director
2. Manage and supervise junior members of the cost consultancy team
3. Manage all cost consultancy services including pre-contract and post-contract
4. Cost Control, Cost Planning, Cost Estimates, and Procurement
5. Negotiation and contract preparation
6. Supply Chain Engagement
7. Budget Reconciliations
8. Cost reporting
9. Site Valuations
10. Contractor Payments
11. Collate and structure cost data for the wider business
12. Client liaison
13. Undertake Quality Assurance and compliance checks
14. Champion the utilization of technology to enhance service delivery and business efficiency

Required Skills & Experience

1. Experience in large-scale residential urban projects
2. Ability to lead commercial management for large schemes from feasibility to final accounts
3. At least 6+ years' experience as a Cost Consultant / Quantity Surveyor from a consultancy or developer
4. Excellent experience in cost planning, cost control, reporting, and procurement
5. Experience serving private sector clients
6. MRICS/MCIOB qualification
7. Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
8. Experience or passion for MMC and/or sustainability is advantageous
9. Proficient in Microsoft Office
