Job summary

ARM in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Controls Software Engineer to join its automotive electrification team. You will lead development of inverter and motor control, battery management, and vehicle charging software across prototype and production programs.

You will guide junior engineers, define software requirements, contribute to architecture, and validate control software using model-based methods. Expect hands-on testing, calibration, and collaboration with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Software Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years automotive controls experience.
• Experience with electric motor & inverter control, BMS, DC/AC charging.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with CAN-based development and CAN tools (CANape/INCA/CANalyzer).
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of application-level controls and software activities.
• Provide guidance and technical support to junior engineers.
• Define, develop, and maintain software requirements.
• Contribute to software architecture and technical solutions.
• Develop and validate control software using model-based development.
• Participate in prototype builds, commissioning, calibration, testing.
• Investigate software and system-level problems and root causes.
• Support integration between powertrain products and vehicle systems.
• Provide clear technical updates on progress, risks, and deliverables.
• Represent the software function in discussions with customers.
• Contribute to project planning and resource estimation.
