Job summary

Recruit 12 partners with a global automotive technology leader to recruit a Software & Control Engineer responsible for embedded software solutions in electrified powertrains. You will contribute across the full engineering lifecycle from requirements to production approval.

The role focuses on algorithm development, model-based control using MATLAB/Simulink or ASCET-SD, and integrating with CAN/CAN-FD/XCP networks while applying Functional Safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Master’s in Automotive Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in automotive software or controls engineering.
  • Strong model-based design experience using MATLAB/Simulink or ASCET-SD.
  • Knowledge of embedded automotive powertrain software.
  • Familiarity with CAN, CAN-FD and XCP networks.
  • Awareness of Functional Safety and cybersecurity standards.
  • Experience with calibration tools and vehicle control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder influence.
  • Experience in global or matrix engineering environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Developing algorithms for conventional and electrified powertrain and transmission control systems.
  • Supporting software and controls development throughout the full V-cycle process, including requirements, design, implementation and validation testing.
  • Taking ownership of assigned software modules and ensuring successful delivery.
  • Developing model‑based control solutions using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and/or ASCET‑SD.
  • Working with embedded controllers and vehicle communication networks including CAN, CAN‑FD and XCP.
  • Applying Functional Safety principles and ensuring designs meet automotive safety requirements.
  • Supporting calibration activities and system optimisation.
  • Collaborating with global engineering teams, customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Providing technical input to ensure robust and innovative engineering solutions.

They are looking for a Software & Control Engineer to join their engineering team, developing advanced embedded software solutions for electrified powertrain systems.

Key Responsibilities

As a Software & Control Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and delivering software and control solutions for complex automotive embedded controllers. Working across the full engineering lifecycle, you will support the development of electrified powertrain and transmission control systems from initial requirements through to production approval.

  • Developing algorithms for conventional and electrified powertrain and transmission control systems.
  • Supporting software and controls development throughout the full V-cycle process, including requirements, design, implementation and validation testing.
  • Taking ownership of assigned software modules and ensuring successful delivery.
  • Developing model‑based control solutions using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and/or ASCET‑SD.

Qualifications & Experience
  • A degree or Master's qualification in Automotive Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in software development or controls engineering within the automotive sector.
  • Strong experience with algorithm design and implementation within a model‑based environment (MATLAB/Simulink and/or ASCET‑SD).
  • Knowledge of embedded software development for automotive powertrain systems.
  • Understanding of vehicle communication networks, including CAN, CAN‑FD and XCP.
  • Awareness of Functional Safety, Cybersecurity and automotive safety standards.
  • Experience with calibration tools and vehicle control systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a structured and analytical approach.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience working within a global or matrix engineering organisation is desirable.
