Hunter Selection Limited is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for its large UK food manufacturing site. You will lead a small controls team, manage electrical standards, and serve as the Site Electrical Duty Holder, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

The role covers design, specification, and procurement of electrical equipment, PLC programming, and SCADA/HMI/network system oversight, with a focus on continuous improvement across the site.

Formación

• Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing environments.
• Minimum 10+ years as electrical/control expert.
• Proficient PLC programming (Mitsubishi & Allen-Bradley).
• Experience as Site Electrical Duty Holder.
• Knowledge of electrical legislation and permits to work.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience leading a small team of controls engineers.
• Knowledge of SCADA, HMI and network systems.

Responsabilidades

• Manage a small team of shift controls engineers and set development plans.
• Ensure compliance with electrical standards and control systems.
• Act as Site Electrical Duty Holder ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Design, specify and purchase electrical equipment.
• Program, upgrade and document PLC logic.
• Oversee SCADA systems, HMIs and network systems.
• Monitor performance of controls equipment and drive improvements.

Do you want to work for a leading food manufacturer, that values hard work, teamwork and developing people. They are part of a global group with multiple sites in the UK, this is their biggest factory employing over 500 people. They are looking for an experienced Senior Controls Engineer, to develop and maintain all site controls, automation and electrical infrastructure.

Role & Responsibilities as the Senior Controls Engineer:

• Managing a small team of shift controls engineers - development plans, objectives, training
• Responsible for all matters relating to electrical standards and control systems
• Be the Site Electrical Duty Holder - understanding electrical safety, legislation & compliance
• Design, specification and purchasing of electrical equipment
• PLC - programming, upgrades, modifications, documentation
• SCADA Systems, HMI's, Network Systems
• Monitor and track performance of controls equipment against continuous improvement activities

Knowledge, Skills & Experience needed to be the Senior Controls Engineer:

• Must have worked in an FMCG / Food manufacturing environment
• Be an experienced electrical / control expert - 10+ years
• PLC - programmer - ideally Mitsubishi & Allen-Bradley
• Prior experience of being a Site Electrical Duty Holder
• Knowledge of electrical legislation, regulations, permits to work, isolation procedures
• Proactive person, strong problem solver and sound decision-making skills
• Ideally have previously led a small team of controls engineers
• Knowledge of SCADA systems, HMI's & Network Systems
