Hunter Selection is recruiting a Senior Controls Engineer based in Birmingham, focused on developing and maintaining electrical and automation systems in a leading food manufacturing facility. The role involves team management, project oversight, and ensuring compliance with electrical standards.

Applicants should have over 10 years of experience in FMCG environments, strong PLC programming skills, and ideally have been a Site Electrical Duty Holder.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in electrical/control systems in FMCG/food manufacturing.
• Experienced PLC programmer, ideally in Mitsubishi and Allen-Bradley.
• Knowledge of electrical safety legislation and compliance.

Do you want to work for a leading food manufacturer, that values hard work, teamwork and developing people. They are part of a global group with multiple sites in the UK, this is their biggest factory employing over 500 people. They are looking for an experienced Senior Controls Engineer, to develop and maintain all site controls, automation and electrical infrastructure.

Role & Responsibilities as the Senior Controls Engineer:

• Managing a small team of shift controls engineers - development plans, objectives, training
• Responsible for all matters relating to electrical standards and control systems
• Be the Site Electrical Duty Holder - understanding electrical safety, legislation & compliance
• Design, specification and purchasing of electrical equipment
• PLC - programming, upgrades, modifications, documentation
• Project management - installation, commissioning, development, programming, upgrades
• SCADA Systems, HMI's, Network Systems
• Monitor and track performance of controls equipment against continuous improvement activities

Knowledge, Skills & Experience needed to be the Senior Controls Engineer:

• Must have worked in an FMCG / Food manufacturing environment
• Be an experienced electrical / control expert - 10+ years
• PLC - programmer - ideally Mitsubishi & Allen-Bradley
• Prior experience of being a Site Electrical Duty Holder
• Knowledge of electrical legislation, regulations, permits to work, isolation procedures
• Project management experience - design, upgrades, specification, programming, installations
• Proactive person, strong problem solver and sound decision-making skills
• Ideally have previously led a small team of controls engineers
• Knowledge of SCADA systems, HMI's & Network Systems
