Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Construction Project Manager to lead the delivery of projects across Thames Valley sites, including Listed buildings and operational facilities. You will scope from scratch to handover, manage tenders, and ensure CDM and health & safety compliance.

Based in Reading or Newbury with hybrid 36-hour weeks, you will coordinate contractors, monitor budgets and progress, and report performance. A UK driving licence and a strong construction background are essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a UK construction qualification (HND/HNC/BEng/NVQ Level 4) or equivalent.
• Strong experience scoping construction projects from conception to procurement.
• Proven ability to manage contractors and audit performance for high standards of compliance.
• Excellent project management, communication and financial management skills.

Responsibilities

• Scope and deliver projects independently, defining requirements with Operational Specialists.
• Lead end-to-end tender process including contractor evaluation and award.
• Ensure CDM, health & safety compliance as Client with oversight of designers and contractors.
• Review pre-construction docs (CPs, RAMS, H&S plans) for safe delivery.
• Coordinate contractor inductions and communicate site risks and hazards.
• Monitor performance across safety, environment, quality, programme and budget; maintain records.
• Manage contractor performance, resources and site issues; liaise with Controllers of Premises.
• Forecast and report expenditure; escalate risks per governance procedures.
