Job summary

ERM is seeking an experienced Managing Consultant – Construction Environmental Manager to lead environmental compliance on major infrastructure projects during construction. You will act as the on-site environmental lead, guiding project teams, contractors, and regulators to ensure environmental commitments are translated into practical controls.

As a senior member of ERM, you will manage environmental risk, drive continual improvement, and mentor junior professionals while supporting business

Qualifications

• Experience in construction environmental management within UK infrastructure.
• Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Geography, Ecology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience supporting major infrastructure construction environmental activities.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation and regulatory compliance.
• Experience implementing Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs).
• Knowledge of EIA commitments and mitigation during construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance and management during construction.
• Act as primary environmental on-site contact for teams, contractors, and management.
• Monitor environmental commitments, mitigations and legal obligations.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and monitoring to drive improvement.
• Lead investigations into incidents and ensure corrective actions.
• Prepare compliance reports and dashboards for leadership and regulators.
